I’m a high energy person, something I am mostly happy to be, but we all need to find outlets to relax. There’s the usual go-tos, but it’s nice to turn your mind off and create too.
My experience with calligraphy prior to this spring was limited to a book and pen I had when I was about 10 and all I did then was scratch paper with the nib haha. Soooo when Sip & Script invited me to Neatly Nested for a private event, I was thrilled!
Sip & Script is the brainchild of two calligraphers, Julie and Meg, who met at an expo and wanted to work together, but weren’t quite sure how. Realizing they could make calligraphy accessible and fun, especially by pairing with an adult beverage, their venture was born! Now they pop up at various locations (check their site for the latest), as well as adding fun to private and corporate events.
Arriving at Neatly Nested for the first time (who let me go this long without visiting?!), I was in Instagram and shopping heaven. Not only is Danielle’s shop arranged beautifully, and priced affordably, but the table and Kate‘s cocktail set-up were impeccable.
We mingled and shopped (obviously) then sat down to business.
Julie and Meg strike the perfect balance between guiding you and letting you get in the groove while enjoying the music and your beverage.
By the end of the night, we graduated from trace paper to actual card stock and I was impressed with myself and my fellow guests’ work. We were sent home with all our supplies as well so the practice doesn’t have to stop when the night does.
I 100% recommend you check out an event if you’re local– I would do it again in a heartbeat!
